There is no doubt that part of the
reasons for this are the possibilities
to get closer to realities that now
days are available thanks to the new
technologies, the digital accessibility
for the majorities that offers the
great possibility for ever spectator to
become an author.
Through the personal memories, the
creators of the audio-visual media
take us from the individual realities
to the collective ones, in such an
intensive and kindred way, that it
is impossible as viewers not to feel
part of the arguments. Even more: In
this task of revealing other realities,
they themselves get involved in such
a passionate way that they end up
revealing their own reality in the
story of the other.
Documentary films had been in a marginal place
throughout the history of cinematography. But this has
changed in the last decades, to finally reach transcendence,
thanks to the filmmakers who have shared and shown
a diversity of realities. They have allowed the critics
and the general public to see stories that remain in the
collective memory. It has been a long and hard journey
the documentary has gone through to reach the position it
now has gained, in the very different forums, spaces, and
festivals all over the world.
CONTEXT
DocuLab Guadalajara persists its
main purpose: to establish a space
for feedback for the emerging young
creators in the audio-visual language;
young men and women who bring
their unrealized projects, to find
an ideal setting for the encounter
with professional filmmakers, in
a laboratory of specialization,
exploration, renovation, development
and practice of the documentary
audio-visual language narrative;
from its construction, production,
postproduction, diffusion, and
distribution. DocuLab is directed
to a designated group of 35 Latin
American audio-visual creators, who
participate with a documentary in
post-production process that serves
as material of study, in the autopsy
